Our headshot photographers will be there with you, step-by-step, involving:
Getting to know you before your dating headshot session:
At 415Headshots, we tailor each photograph for our client. We avoid generic photographs, especially for dating photos and portraits and aim to showcase your unique self on dating apps! We’ll send you a survey asking about your lifestyle, personality, places you find yourself at, what look you’re going for, etc. Once we get to know your true self, we’ll move onto the next step of our process for capturing dating headshots and portraits.
Wardrobe & location suggestions
After getting to know your lifestyle and personality, we’ll hunt down locations and the right lighting that brings out your best self and have our dating photo session there.. Whether it be snapping your headshots and portraits at a coffee shop in down San Francisco or at Tilden Park, Oakland while going for a walk, we will ensure that you shine.
The wardrobe and location have to match! After narrowing down locations to photograph at, we will suggest wardrobes that match the location we will be photographing at. For example, if we’re taking a candid dating shot at a bar, we’ll definitely recommend bringing a hip outfit vs. if we’re photographing your lifestyle hiking look, we’ll recommend you bring out that hiking outfit (shoes and all)!
No clue where to start or stuck on colors? No worries! Before your dating photography session, 415Headshots’ photographers will work with you to figure out what will work best for you.
Coaching
Once we finalize the wardrobes and locations for your dating profile photography session, the work has just begun. The most important part of this process is making you feel comfortable, confident, and warm while taking photos for your dating profiles.
At least 2 weeks before your scheduled photo shoot we recommend engaging in exercise, staying hydrated, eating healthy, plentiful sleep, and following up on your skin care so that your photographs come out flawless.
Our photographers have worked with a lot of clients, such as real estate agents, corporate executives, yoga instructors, and therapists, to name a few. At 415Headshots, we’ve dialed in the coaching process for posing and facial expressions for individuals that want to photograph a certain look. We’ll use our vast experience from working with other clients to coach you through the dating photography session and give you the look you’re going for!
We’ll guide you through poses to make you look confident and work with ambient lighting to make sure we photograph your best angle.
In addition, our headshot photographers might recommend some props to go with the look. For example, if you’re envisioning a coffee shop look, we suggest you bring a book and grab a cup of joe to complete the aesthetic.
Learn more about dating headshots
Someone makes a first impression about yourself from your photo in 39 milliseconds! If you’re in the dating scene, trying to meet new people, or potentially aiming to meet the love of your life, those 39 milliseconds are no joke! In fact, most individuals make a decision on your dating profile solely based on the main photo, without digging deeper into secondary photos or other information about yourself. While we don’t entirely recommend using your corporate headshot from work as a dating profile picture, we also suggest not using a standard selfie as one of your photos. (In fact, 20% of dating profile pictures are selfies!) If you’re serious about meeting someone online, you should communicate that with the effort you put into your photos. With the ability to upload almost a dozen photos to each dating profile, you have ample opportunity to showcase your personality, fashion style, physical appearance, smile, and lifestyle.
Your first photo on your dating profile is literally the first impression! Use your main photo as a well-rounded picture to capture all of those attributes & the additional photos to support your personal brand. This article goes behind the psychology of what makes you look likeable & confident in photos, it’s important to utilize the following methods for your main dating profile photo, especially.
Show off those pearly whites
Studies have found that pictures of you smiling increases your rapport online. Your smile increases your chances of that right swipe!
A well-fitted outfit
A squint in the eyes
It’s shown that a slight squint in the eye makes you appear more comfortable & confident. Perfect for that main dating profile shot!
Perfect ratio between headshot to full body-shot
A full-body shot takes away too much attention from your face, meanwhile a close-up headshot doesn’t give enough insight to your body. A perfect, main dating profile picture captures a great ratio of your body from the waist up.
After the main photo
For each of the dating apps or websites you’re on, make sure to have around 4-6 great shots of yourself. These should all be different variations and not be limited to a single type of photo (such as a cropped headshot). Be versatile in your pictures with a full body portrait, headshot, lifestyle photo (such as a hiking portrait), and one - two fun shots, such as a candid shot or a headshot from your trip abroad. If you’re utilizing different apps for different purposes, such as Bumble BFF to connect with professionals and Match to find a potential date, make sure to have different pictures that suit what you’re trying to find.
